As a teacher for many years, I worked in various secondary schools in different parts of the country. I retired from full-time teaching several years ago as deputy head of a Church of England comprehensive school in Enfield. I have been a member of Christ Church since 1989 when I moved to Ware with my family. My connections with Christ Church School extend back over a large number of years – indeed, my three children all went through the school, although some time ago now! As Chair of Governors, I meet regularly in school with the Headteacher, Mrs Vaughan, and endeavour to attend all committee meetings.

I am a person who is now, and has always been, fascinated by technology and passionate about trying to ensure that it is used in the best possible way. I have extensive experience in the implementation, roll out and maintenance of conventional IT systems and have a unique ability to understand and make best use of virtually all forms of technology. I have been responsible for designing and implementing pieces of technology as widely diverse as a contactless trap release mechanism for Harlow Greyhound Stadium to the innovative implementation of cinema rooms for domestic applications. I use my IT experience in my role as link governor for IT and have helped to redesign the school’s website. My basic philosophy is, ‘Yes is the answer – what was the question?’.

Roger Evans (Foundation Governor)

I have been a member of the Christ Church congregation for nearly 40 years and associated with the school, initially when my son attended in the mid-80s – happy memories of school productions and watching him play football for the school. Although a science teacher after leaving college, most of my working life was spent as an Environmental Health Officer; I retired in March 2016. I try to use some of my career expertise in building construction, food safety and health and safety in my role as a Governor by inspecting the school premises, assisting with health and safety issues and providing training. I have a disabled daughter so have a personal interest in special educational needs and disability. After some additional training, I hope to be able assist in this important area at the school.

I’m married to Richard (an ex-Christ Church School governor) and am a full time mum to our three children; Dylan (now at Richard Hale), and Aaron and Kiera, who both attend Christ Church.

I previously worked in Banking and IT but gave up full time employment following the arrival of my second child. Since then, I’ve been involved with Christ Church Toddlers and have played an active role on the school PSA, helping to organise a variety of fundraising events and projects including the recent development of the school field. I am also the club treasurer for Ware Lions FC. I started attending Christ Church with my own family in 2009 and was confirmed in 2012. I’ve enjoyed the positive environment and real sense of community which being part of Christ Church, and the school, has realised.

I'm a local resident whose family has clocked up over fifty years of attendance at Christ Church School. We've been through a lot together. I'm somewhere to be found down front in the school photograph of 1964/5 which hangs on the wall outside the Head's office. I work locally in IT for GSK and have been involved IT in some way or other for most of my working life. I managed to fix the problems of what to do with my spare time and falling asleep at night by having a partner dedicated to caring for adults with learning disabilities in our local community and our seven children. I'm relatively new to School Governor affairs but do try to get involved as much as time and priorities permit.

I have also been a School Reader at Christ Church School for the past five years.

My two children, Isabel and Jack, are evidence of the vibrant, stimulating and value-led education offered at Christ Church School and I am delighted to be able to give something back to the school in my role as Governor. I work as a journalist and have used my experience to help create material for the school’s website, prospectus and in the local press. I have a degree in Spanish and am proud to be the link Governor for Modern Foreign Languages and Music. I am also the link Governor for Literacy and enjoy regular meetings with the subject leaders to ensure every child reaches their potential in this vital area. In addition, I am an active member of the school’s Performing Arts Committee and have great fun organising our now legendary annual talent show; Christ Church Has Talent!

As a Foundation Governor and Vicar, I support the pastoral, worship and spiritual growth of the school, as well as growing the church link and helping to maintain the school’s Christian ethos. I have spent half my life as an ordained minister and as a youth worker in the church. I trained in Christian Youth Ministry with the Oasis Trust and it has always been a great joy to see young people grow and develop. I have run a number of leadership programmes, taught at All Nations Bible College, as well as being an Arrow leadership graduate. Both my children benefited greatly from their time as pupils at Christ Church School.

I have had a long, memorable, and happy association with Christ Church School. I was a teacher here for fourteen years. When I left to see my youngest through pre-school and nursery, I was delighted to take up the role of Foundation Governor. This enabled me to maintain links with the school and keep abreast of educational changes and reforms. I am currently responsible for PSHE, Pupil Premium and involved with performance management. I still teach part-time at a local primary school, and I am always kept busy with my two boys.

Judith Greaves (Foundation Governor)

 Attendance during academic year 2015-16

Full Governing Body meetings: 3/5

I am a trained psychotherapist and previously worked for Place2Be based in a secondary school. I then managed a counselling project within a primary school where I worked very closely with the Head and the Learning Mentor in charge of behaviour and children’s wellbeing. My three children all attended Christ Church School until recently and were extremely happy here, and as a family we regularly attend Christ Church. I am the link Governor responsible for Safeguarding and Religious Education and I hope that my experience of counselling and supporting children's wellbeing and emotional health, as well as being a mum, will help to give back to the school the enormous amount of good the school did for my children.

Katy Cole (Foundation Governor)

Attendance during academic year 2015-16

I chose to become a Governor due to my connection with the school as a parent and member of Christ Church, and my interest in supporting the education of children. I have been an active member of Christ Church since moving to Ware 13 years ago. Both my children attend the school and are enjoying the learning activities on offer. I have a background in Education, in particular Special Educational Needs. I have worked as an Educational Psychologist for 10 years and previous to this was a primary school teacher. I am currently a link Governor for SEN and Pupil Premium, which involves meeting with the SENCo and Headteacher to support the monitoring and review of provision for these students.

Louise Phelan (Staff Governor)

Attendance during academic year 2015-16

I started my teaching career in Suffolk working in three different schools, one of which had been put into Special Measures before my arrival. I enjoyed the challenge of helping the school improve and we were soon rated 'Good', a result I enjoyed even more as Staff Governor there for two years. On getting married in 2001, we moved to Colchester where I became Key Stage Two Co-ordinator, Literacy Co-ordinator and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. I took several years out when we had children but our move to Hertfordshire in 2013 saw my own children at school and a desire to return to work. I started at Christ Church only two days a week and enjoyed it so much I'm now working four days in Year 3/4.
